Vision Statement and Business Plan for
Maple Leaf School and Floyd Hodgins
Firstly and foremost is the target of teaching to each
student. Satisfying each student's personal targets is
the ultimate goal, whether that be in publishing a
paper, getting into university without an extra juku year,
becoming a doctor, enjoying trips, being successful in
overseas or even in Japanese English meetings. The
target of the school is to be a personal bridge.
Financially the school is structured on a zero based
budget which allows it to charge basically the lowest
fees of any other school in the area or possibly in
Japan. Of course there will be non profit groups which
will be cheaper, but quality and experience are what
will cause Maple Leaf School to be successful.
The intention of the school, once the number of
students justifies it, is to register it as the first Canadian
business in Kumamoto Prefecture. In Canada,
3842070 Canada Incorporated controls real estate
worth on a proforma basis of about 970,000 dollars,
about 92,000,000 yen, and employs at least a couple of
staff on a part time basis.
The vision for Japan is to build a base of 100
students initially. Currently, at startup, there are about
50 students. Once the school has originally started
and has started on track to get to the 100 students
plateau, there will be some changes. The first will be
taxation. Sales tax will have to be charged. As well
there will be 2 paid staff, part time to work on sales and
relations and communications with students as well as
helping with the multitude of managerial and routine
tasks associated with a school. Once the number of
students achieves 120 or so, it is expected to rent a
larger location. Ideally the ground floor in the same
building with a couple of parking spots ideally. A
second teacher will be found eventually to allow the
expansion of the school to occur.
On a personal level, I hope to see the school built
into a mini chain. I hope to see my buildings in Canada
completed and rented. I hope to publish two books
completely, and finish drafts on two more. The two I
hope to publish are Sandy and Vilneus. The two
others are Mars and Holly. The next two I hope to
finish are the Submarine and the Return. These last
two are in progress now.
